The Teleprompter President

I was in a teleconference last night and didn't get a chance to see Pres. Obama's press conference. I probably wouldn't have watched it anyway. But when I saw the news reports on TV today, my first reaction was "What's with the Teleprompters? Since when do presidents use Teleprompters at news conferences?" It also gets me wondering about how truly "off the cuff" the man's answers really were. Was this press conference truly spontaneous, or at least as spontaneous as most of them are? To be sure, most press secretaries readily admit that the reporters attending the press conference usually let the press secretary know the general areas which they will ask their questions. But Teleprompters?
